Brandcom Awards 2023 to induct three legends into Hall of Fame

Three outstanding achievers in diverse areas of branding and Communication are set to be inducted into Brandcom Awards’ prestigious Hall of Fame this year.

The three living legends are Jimi Awosika, Vice Chairman, Troyka Holdings; Wale Adenuga, Founder of Wale Adenuga Productions(WAP) and Bola Akingbade, Former Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria.

The Induction ceremony will be part of the 2023 Brandcom Awards night holding at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on the 4th of November, 2023. Outstanding brands, agencies, and marketing communications professionals would also be honoured at this event.

According to Joshua Ajayi, Convener of Brandcom Awards and publisher of Brand Communicator, “It has been our culture to celebrate and showcase excellence at our awards night each year based on our mantra of Prestige, Integrity, and Credibility and we are poised to take things higher this year.

“Inducting these outstanding giants who grew this industry, into the Brandcom Hall of Fame is our own little way of celebrating them. These individuals have impacted the growth of this dynamic industry in no small way,” he noted.

As Vice Chairman of the Troyka Group, Mr. Jimi Awosika is still very much in active service working with three huge companies –

Insight Redefini , Optimum Exposures, and Halogen Security Company, among others.

His professional career started with the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation where he worked as a Sub-Editor. By 1977, It was the challenge of advertising that attracted Jimi Awosika to Grant Advertising where he started out as an Account Executive.

Today, he has over 4 decades of experience in advertising and marketing communications and is recognized in the industry as a premium practitioner, who has handled top-notch brands and has contributed papers and practical demonstrations to the education of younger generations of industry professionals.

Akingbade who turned 70 recently is the former Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Nigeria. He is an amalgam of knowledge in diverse areas of commercial growth and brand-building of fast-moving consumer goods.

Akingbade has turned many sleepy brands into market leaders. He challenges conventional frameworks and has championed many award-winning campaigns that got MTN several laurels when he was the CMO.

Wale Adenuga is a veteran cartoonist, producer, and entertainment entrepreneur. His popular television station and production outfit, WAP has churned out many popular series like Binta and Friends, and Super Story, among others. As a premium media player, he has built many brands in his three or four decades as an active player in the businesses of branding, entertainment, creativity, and media management.

After the induction, the three would join the exclusive list of communication giants such as Biodun Shobanjo, Chairman, Troyka Group, Udeme Ufot, Group Managing Director of SO&U; Seni Adetu, former Managing Director/CEO, Guinness Nigeria and Founder/GCEO, First Primus West Africa Limited; Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Group Managing Director, CMC Connect Burson Cohn & Wolfe; Ayo Oluwatosin, Group Managing Director, Rosabel Group, Sir Steve Omojafor, Mrs. Iquo Ukoh, and others previously inducted into the Brandcom Awards Hall of Fame.

Brandcom Awards is an annual event that celebrates the exploits and achievements of brands, agencies, and notable players that have gone the extra mile in making great impact in the industry. The award is also designed as the most credible and prestigious platform that recognizes, and rewards inspiring agencies, brands, and individuals in the marketing and communications industry in Nigeria.
