The visit took place in Lagos on Monday, where Joshua is receiving medical treatment after the crash that claimed two lives.

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Ogun State Governor, Kayode Akinmade, confirmed the development in an official statement.

Akinmade said Field met with Anthony Joshua and held discussions with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as British officials monitored developments.

According to the statement, the British High Commission was formally notified of the accident shortly after it occurred.

Officials of the Mission were said to be in constant contact with the hospital and the Ogun State Government.

The statement added that the families of the deceased were also contacted through the High Commission.

The accident occurred around midday on Monday and involved a Toyota Lexus jeep conveying Joshua and three other passengers.

Two occupants of the vehicle died in the crash.

They were identified as Ayodele Kelvin Olu, a 36 year old Nigerian British citizen, and Gami Sina, a 36 year old British citizen.

Governor Abiodun visited the Lagos hospital immediately after receiving information about the accident.

Governor Sanwo Olu later joined him at the facility.

The Ogun State governor described the incident as a profound tragedy.

Other senior officials who visited the hospital included the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade.

The Ogun State Government confirmed that Joshua was in a stable condition.

Abiodun said the state was satisfied with the quality of care provided by the medical team.

President Bola Tinubu was also briefed on the accident.

According to the state government, the President spoke separately with Joshua, his mother, and Abiodun.

Tinubu conveyed his condolences and urged unity during what he described as a deeply painful moment.

Authorities have ordered a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
