President Bola Tinubu will unveil a special book of tributes in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari as family members, close associates, public officials and admirers gather for interfaith and interdenominational prayers to mark the first anniversary of his passing.

The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists on the planned activities in Abuja.
Buhari passed away on 13 July 2025 at the age of 82 after serving as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
The memorial programme on 13 July will feature prayers reflecting the values of unity, faith and national cohesion that defined his public service.
Mustapha said a select number of individuals who worked closely with Buhari would speak about his historical legacy and share personal experiences.
The commemorative book, Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari, compiled from contributions by global leaders, heads of state, diplomats and political figures, will be presented to the public by President Tinubu as Special Guest of Honour.
“The book is neither for sale nor for fundraising. It is for free distribution,” Mustapha emphasised.
He urged Nigerians to pray for the late president in their places of worship, hoping the commemoration would foster national unity and provide comfort to his family and admirers.
Religious leaders from various faiths and denominations will lead prayers at the event. Mustapha called on the media to help spread word of the memorial and encourage public participation in prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul.

The first anniversary events are expected to bring together a wide cross-section of Nigerians to celebrate the life and legacy of the former leader known for his humility, resilience and commitment to national service.
