CAF Awards 2025 Women nominees celebrate Africa’s top players, coaches and clubs shaping the future of women’s football on the continent
CAF Awards 2025 Women nominees have been officially announced by the Confederation of African Football, showcasing the immense talent and progress of African women’s football.

Spanning across seven categories, the list reflects the growth, competitiveness, and sheer brilliance of players, coaches and teams across the continent from 6 January to 15 October 2025.
A panel of CAF Technical Committee members, veteran coaches, African football legends and seasoned journalists selected 10 nominees per category, with special focus on performances in both continental and global competitions.
The CAF Awards 2025 Women nominees for Player of the Year include stars from ten nations, with Zambia’s Barbra Banda aiming to retain her crown.
She faces tough competition from compatriot Rachael Kundananji, Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo, and Morocco’s sharpshooter Ghizlaine Chebbak, who led the scoring charts at the 2024 Women’s AFCON.
Adding depth to the category are Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga of Malawi, Senegal’s Mama Diop, and Ghana’s seasoned campaigner Portia Boakye.
In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, Chiamaka Nnadozie of Nigeria stands out as a two-time winner, but faces real competition from South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, Botswana’s Sedilame Boseja, and rising stars from Egypt, Morocco, and Senegal.
Nigeria’s Shakirat Abidemi Moshood, Morocco’s Doha El Madani, and Zambia’s Ruth Mukoma headline the Young Player of the Year shortlist, underlining CAF’s focus on the next generation.
These players represent a bright future and growing pathways in women’s football development across Africa.
In the highly respected Coach of the Year category, Nigeria’s Bankole Olowookere and Justin Madugu join the likes of South Africa’s Desiree Ellis, Morocco’s Lamia Boumehdi, and Zambia’s Carol Kanyemba. Their leadership has driven both success and growth at youth and senior levels.
AS FAR, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bayelsa Queens, and 15 de Agosto are among the Club of the Year nominees, each contributing significantly to the club game’s rising profile on the continent.
The Women’s National Team of the Year category includes ten deserving sides, from senior giants like Nigeria and South Africa to youth trailblazers such as Cameroon U-17, Zambia U-17, and Côte d’Ivoire U-17.
With growing investment, global exposure, and fierce competition, the CAF Awards 2025 Women nominees mark a powerful statement about the rise and resilience of women’s football in Africa.
