The Carabao Cup Draw Last-16 Hopes for Manchester United and Aston Villa come into focus as the English Football League prepares to conduct the fourth-round draw following a series of decisive third-round fixtures across England.

Manchester United and Aston Villa are among the clubs still competing for places in the round of 16, with both sides scheduled to feature in key fixtures before the draw takes place later in the evening.

The draw will be conducted shortly after Manchester United’s clash with Brighton, with broadcaster Pien Meulensteen hosting proceedings alongside former England internationals Jamie Redknapp and Ashley Young.

A total of 11 clubs have already secured progression to the fourth round, reflecting a competitive midweek schedule that has delivered both expected outcomes and tightly contested results.

Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Bradford City were among the early qualifiers, having won their respective ties.

Five additional teams joined the line-up on Tuesday night, as Arsenal defeated Ipswich Town 4–2 away from home, while Liverpool overcame Tottenham Hotspur 3–1 in a high-profile encounter.

Fulham edged West Ham United 3–2 in a closely fought London contest, Brentford recorded a narrow 2–1 victory over Reading, and Peterborough United advanced on penalties after a 3–3 draw with Barnsley.

The Carabao Cup Draw Last-16 Hopes remain open for several clubs, with four more third-round fixtures scheduled for Wednesday.

Everton host Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fleetwood Town face Sheffield United, Coventry City take on Aston Villa, and Manchester United welcome Brighton in what is expected to be one of the standout ties of the round.

Defending champions Manchester City will conclude the third-round fixtures on Thursday against Championship side Norwich City.

The delayed fixture introduces an element of uncertainty into the draw, as the winner will only be confirmed after the draw has already taken place.

A placeholder will therefore represent that tie during Wednesday night’s proceedings.

The Carabao Cup has continued to provide a platform for both Premier League sides and lower-division clubs to compete for domestic silverware, with recent seasons marked by a mix of dominant performances and surprise results.

Manchester City, as defending champions, remain one of the standout contenders, although early rounds have already demonstrated the competition’s unpredictable nature.

For clubs such as Manchester United and Aston Villa, progression into the fourth round represents not only an opportunity for silverware but also a chance to build momentum early in the domestic campaign.

Managers often use the competition to rotate squads, yet the latter stages typically see stronger line-ups as ambitions sharpen.

The fourth-round ties are scheduled to be played in the week commencing October 26, setting the stage for another decisive phase in one of English football’s most dynamic knockout competitions.
