In act commemorating the season of love, the Rotary Clubs of Ikeja-Alausa and Ikeja-Alausa Central, held a joint meeting recently at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja.

A press release made available to Freelanews and signed by the president RC Ikeja Alausa, Rot. Prince Aseperi Adeyemi Shonibare and the club secretary, Rot. Afolabi Babatunde, gave details of how the event went.

The meeting was jointly called to order by the two club Change Maker Presidents Rot. Aseperi Adeyemi Shonibare and Rot. Deji Shonuga around 6.15pm.

While the Rotary grace was recited by all, Rotn. Bouazizi and Rotn. Bukola of Ikeaja-Alausa Central were at the cockpit of officiating and coordinating the event.

The meeting officially started in earnest with Happy Hour, an activity usually conducted in order for members to connect, engage, network with one another by the two clubs.

With Rotn. Kenny Saint Brown reciting the 4-Way Test, formal introduction of members the ‘rotary way’ was carried out by membership chairs of the two clubs ably represented by Rotn. Bouazizi for RC Ikeja-Alausa and Rotn. Vincent for RC Ikeja-Alausa Central.

The formal introduction was preceded by the introduction of AG, PP Mafutau Adelotan who graced the event.

SAA officer for the evening was undertaken by able Rotn. Bukola being decorated both from RC Ikeja-Alausa Central.

Rotn. Mafutau –(AG, PP) delivered a pep talk which centred on the ‘Importance of Joining Rotary’.

He started by charging the two clubs to fully participate in the coming Rotary Day of Service which is celebrated every year on the 23rd of Feb world over. It is pertinent to note that it is the day Rotary was officially established by the Pioneer President, Paul Harris 1905.

Rotn. Mafutau, therefore, enjoined the guests and visitors present to count it all joy joining rotary, saying what rotary world over stands for service to humanity and the communities.

He advised that as members celebrate in February the Rotary World Peace and Conflict Resolution month, which coincides with the month of love, more emphasise should be placed on the progress of the clubs.

“We should all be one, putting aside all forms of sentiments and work for peace and progress in the clubs.”

He also reminded everyone the importance of giving to rotary, EREY ($ 100), Paul Harris ($1000) while mentioning that the district is currently magnanimously matching any member’s attempt at paying $500 for Paul Harris.

The joint meeting officially came to a close around 8pm as members danced and had fun late into the night.

The event, which was well attended by members of both clubs, took place on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the swimming side of the hotel.
