The chairman, Transition Committee of Abeokuta South Local Government Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide has commissioned four projects in Abeokuta Local Government Area, Ogun State, in order to improve socio-economic growth of the people, especially those at the grassroots level.

According to our correspondent who was present at the event, the projects commissioned included 50 open market stalls at Asero motor parks, two boreholes at Isale-Ijeun and a public toilet at Isale Itoko.

Shomide implored the market leaders, traders and the people of Abeokuta South Local Government to judiciously use the facilities.

The council boss appreciated the governor of Ogun State, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, for the privileges given to them to be able to actualise the promises made to the electorates, adding that the construction of the projects is as a result of challenges of the traders at Adatan market.

While promising the state government that the support given to the council will be put to effective use in developing local government area, Shomide revealed the construction of the 50 open market stalls was as a result of roadside ware display in order to curb the traders indiscipline, prevention of accidents and an attempt to decongest the trading at the Adatan market.

“You entrusted your votes to us, I assure you that we will not disappoint you as we will continue to work for the success and comfort of everybody; most especially those at the grassroots and likewise the urban inhabitants will also benefits maximally from the government,” he said.

He maintained that local governments are to complement the efforts of the state government in delivery of dividends of democracy to the people. He expressed optimism that all the 20 LGAs in the state will have more projects to showcase by the time the administration rounds off.

Dignitaries at the events included members of transition committee of Abeokuta South Local Government, the chairman of ALGON, Alhaji Semiu Bola Lawal, members of the All Progressives Congress, representative of CDAs, Iyaloja and Babaloja of Asero Market.
