The World Health Organization (WHO) regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, has said that the number of COVID-19 cases in Africa has risen to over 240,000 in the past 24 hours.
WHO also said that more than 109,000 people have recovered from the virus across 54 countries in Africa.
The UN health agency gave the update via its official Twitter handle on Monday morning.
According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed more than 6,400 people as of today.
“Over 240,000 confirmed #COVID19 cases on the African continent – with more than 109,900 recoveries and 6,400 deaths,” WHO tweeted.
The WHO African region COVID-19 dashboard showed that Ghana is now ahead of Algeria with 11, 422 reported cases, fourth highest in Africa, while the North African nation has recorded 10,919 cases.
South Africa remains the country on the continent with the highest reported cases of 70,038.
