Pastor Dolapo Lawal sparks debate after advising couples to share passwords as a test of trust in marriage, drawing mixed reactions online

Nigerian pastor Dolapo Lawal, sparked widespread debate online after sharing his views on trust and transparency in marriage, particularly concerning access to personal digital information between partners.

In a statement that has since gone viral across social media platforms, Pastor Dolapo Lawal suggested that couples preparing for marriage should be fully open with one another, including sharing sensitive account information as a measure of trust.

He stated that individuals unwilling to share such access should reconsider marriage plans, describing transparency as a foundational requirement for lasting relationships.

The marriage transparency comments quickly gained attention, drawing strong and divided reactions from users across various platforms.

Some social media users supported the pastor’s position, arguing that secrecy in digital communication is a major cause of conflict in modern relationships and that openness could help reduce mistrust.

Others, however, strongly disagreed, insisting that personal privacy should still be respected even within marriage.

They argued that trust should be built through communication and mutual understanding rather than full access to private accounts.

Critics also warned that enforcing total transparency could create unnecessary suspicion and strain relationships rather than strengthen them.

As discussions continue online, the pastor’s remarks have reignited broader conversations about privacy, trust, and boundaries in modern relationships, especially in the digital age where personal and shared lives often intersect.
