On Saturday, August 12th, 2023, a remarkable event took place at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as Dr. Azeez Ikimot Adesola bagged her doctorate degree in Medical Microbiology and Public Health. The ceremony was a moment of pride and joy for Dr. Azeez, her family, friends, and colleagues.
Dr. Azeez was born and raised in Abeokuta, Ogun State to the family of Hon. (Alh) Fasiu Bakenne and Alhaja Sukurat Bakenne.
Growing up in a supportive family, she was encouraged to pursue her dreams and excel in her academic pursuits. Her passion for the sciences led her to study Biochemistry for her first degree at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. She later obtained a Masters degree in Medical Microbiology from the same institution, further solidifying her knowledge in the field.

For over a decade, Dr. Azeez has been a dedicated Principal Academic Technologist in the Biological Science Department of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State. Her commitment to her work and her continuous pursuit of knowledge have been evident throughout her career. Her expertise and contributions in the field of Medical Microbiology and Public Health have not gone unnoticed.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Azeez has also made significant contributions to the scientific community. She has authored several books, published journals, and reviews in both local and international publications. Her research work has been recognized and applauded by her peers, further establishing her as a respected and influential figure in her field.
Dr. Azeez’s journey to obtaining her doctorate degree was not without challenges. Balancing her academic pursuits with her responsibilities as a wife and mother was no easy task. However, with the support and encouragement of her husband, Engr. Babatunde Azeez, she was able to overcome these obstacles and succeed. Their unwavering love and support for each other have been instrumental in Dr. Azeez’s achievements.
As she continues her career in academia, Dr. Azeez hopes to inspire and empower other young women to pursue their dreams and excel in their chosen fields. She believes that with determination and hard work, anyone can achieve greatness.
Her dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence serve as an inspiration to all, especially to the female gender.
