The postpartum complication occurred after she successfully delivered triplets at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital before being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, where her condition deteriorated.
Her brother, Meshack Sintei, said in the family statement that she was rushed to the ICU after complications set in shortly after delivery.
He explained that medical teams made intensive efforts to stabilise her condition as her health declined rapidly in the critical care unit.
According to the statement, her oxygen saturation levels dropped significantly during emergency treatment, despite sustained efforts by healthcare professionals to revive her.
The family described the final moments as distressing, noting that she struggled for survival while doctors worked to sustain her life.
Sintei confirmed that she passed away at about 2:45 am on April 14, 2026, describing her death as a devastating loss to the family and medical community.
He also described her as a dedicated professional, a mother of triplets, and a committed member of the Nigerian Medical Association.
Until her death, Dr Ogbachi was widely regarded as a diligent doctor whose career reflected commitment to maternal and child health services in Bayelsa State.
