Yoruba people drag Kate Henshaw over her two-year old comments on tribe

In a post shared on X, Dr Yoruba accused Kate Henshaw of making remarks that were interpreted by some users as disrespectful to the Yoruba people, describing the situation as unacceptable under the guise of online banter.

He stated that what was said should not be excused as humour, insisting that ethnic identity should be treated with respect regardless of context.

“Degrading the entire Yoruba race is not, and will never be, banter. Not in this life or the next,” he wrote.

Dr Yoruba further criticised the actress, referencing her career and public image, and suggested that her success had been supported by the environment she was now being accused of disrespecting.

He argued that respect should be shown to the culture and people who have contributed to one’s growth and career.

The post also included a warning against dismissing public backlash as victimhood, stating that reactions should not be mischaracterised when tensions arise.

The message has since generated reactions across social media, with users divided over the interpretation of the remarks and the tone of the response.
