Edo Security Corps arrests 22-year-old fake soldier and police constable over firearms, drugs, and alleged kidnapping
The Edo State Security Corps, ESSC, has arrested a 22-year-old suspected fake soldier and a police constable over alleged possession of firearms and involvement in criminal activities.

The fake soldier, Peter Ehiotu from Benue State, was arrested in an Army uniform at an uncompleted building along the Oluku Bypass, while police constable Nelson Agbonze was apprehended with a cut-to-size firearm on February 10, 2026, along Amufi Road in Benin City.
Deputy Commander of the Corps, Richard Balogun, said the duo are also suspected kidnappers. Items recovered from Ehiotu included an army jacket and a substance suspected to be hard drugs, popularly known as ice.

The arrests were part of routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations aimed at strengthening internal security and ridding communities of criminal elements.
Both suspects will be handed over to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
