Ejigbo LCDA warns residents not to share PVC or bank details following a fraudulent message claiming ₦70,000 disbursement

The Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has warned residents against a circulating fraudulent message claiming they must submit their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and bank account details to receive ₦70,000.

In a public disclaimer, the council emphasised that it has no such programme and has not authorised any individual, office, or agent to collect personal or financial information from residents.

Officials urged citizens to disregard the message immediately and to refrain from sharing PVC numbers, Bank Verification Numbers (BVN), or bank account information with anyone claiming to act on the Council’s behalf.

“Official government programmes are announced only through verified channels and do not require unlawful disclosure of sensitive information,” the LCDA stated.

The warning follows a social media post on January 28, 2026, by television personality Rufai Oseni, who shared an inbox message from an anonymous resident claiming that locals were being asked to present their national ID and voter cards to receive the money.

The message also suggested that recipients open new bank accounts to facilitate the alleged disbursement.

The council reiterated that the message is false and misleading, warning residents to exercise caution against scams exploiting personal data for fraudulent purposes.
