The Nigeria Police Force has debunked the rumour making the rounds that an army personnel was killed in Lokoja, Kogi State capital on Tuesday night.

Recall that there was panic within Murtala Mohammed way and its environs when news filtered in that some suspected thugs shot at an army officer which made many residents to flee over fear of reprisal attack from the Nigerian army.

But addressing newsmen on Wednesday, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede Ekpeji described the news as fake and should be disregarded by the public.

According to him, a combined security outfit was drafted outside to ascertain the information which was later confirmed to be false.

On the Monday incident where suspected thugs shot at many residents in the state capital, the police boss added that efforts are already in place to arrest the hoodlums.

Meanwhile, 56 suspects have been arrested in connection with the looting that took place at the State Medical Store, Agricultural Development Project, ADP and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture warehouse.

He said the arrested suspects were already providing useful information to the Police that would lead to the recovery of all the looted items and the arrest of their accomplice.

Ekpeji said 66 Motorcycles and 44 keke napep were arrested loading agricultural materials.

The commissioner of Police, however, debunked the information that suspected hoodlums invaded Kpata market warehouse and that of zone eight.
