The Nation newspaper has resumed operation three days after its headquarters in Lagos was attacked by hoodlums.

TheCable had reported how hoodlums set the newspaper’s head office ablaze on Tuesday.

In a statement on Friday, Victor Ifijeh, managing director and editor-in-chief of the newspaper, said the company’s “detractors have again failed woefully”.

“The management thanks everyone that has made this happen. We are back. This morning The Nation is everywhere. Our detractors have again failed woefully,” he said.

Ifijeh said the experience would make the newspaper stronger, adding that the company remains committed to promoting democracy.

“This experience will make us stronger. We will remain a strong voice and a strong advocate of democracy, freedom and good governance. We commend you all,” he added.

Television Continental (TVC), which was also attacked on Tuesday, is yet to resume operation.

Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is believed to be the main target of the attacks.

The two media establishments have been linked to the former Lagos state governor.

The recent attacks on private and government-owned properties in the state were triggered by the shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki tollgate on Tuesday.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor, had denied any involvement in the incident, blaming it on “forces beyond his direct control”.
