According to Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Udenu Division apprehended the suspect at about 12:26 pm, following a report that the robbery had occurred the previous day.
The incident reportedly took place at about 9 am on October 17 at the victim’s shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled and was allegedly threatening to shoot anyone pursuing him,” Ndukwe said.
He added that a pistol resembling a Beretta and an expended 9mm ammunition shell were recovered from the suspect.
Ndukwe also said the suspect had confessed to the alleged crime during interrogation.
The police did not disclose further details about the recovered firearm or whether additional suspects were being sought.
The spokesperson said the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigations were concluded.
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Giwa, commended the operatives involved in the arrest and acknowledged the assistance provided by the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
Giwa reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly to the police and other recognised security agencies.
