Prof Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, led a team to pay their respects to the family of late Brig-Gen. Dzarma Zirkushu in Kaduna on Wednesday.

Zulum visited with the family at Ribadu Army barracks in Kaduna, during which he instructed the immediate release of N20 million as support for the murdered General’s family.

The governor’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau confirmed in a statement, saying that the support would be made to families of soldiers who died alongside General Zirkushu.

Brigadier General T. Opuene, Garrison Commander of the Nigerian Army’s One Division, and Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, greeted Zulum at the airport.

The Governor paid a visit to General Zirkushu’s family with Borno’s three Senators, Kashim Shettima, Mohammed Ali Ndume, and Abubakar Kyari; the State Chairman of the APC, Ali Bukar Dalori; and two Members of the House of Representatives, Dr Haruna Mshelia and Ahmad Jaha, who both represent constituencies that include Chibok, where late General Zirkushu was commanding the 28 Task Force Brigade, and Askira-U

The Governor consoled the family and urged them to take solace in the heroic legacy bequeathed to them by the late General.

Zulum said the people of Borno would remain eternally grateful for the sacrifice of the late General and other soldiers who died with him.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government made a N2 million payment to the murdered man’s family.

The contribution was disclosed by Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, immediately after Governor Zulum handed N20 million to the family.

Aruwan stated that Kaduna’s assistance was meant to complement Borno’s efforts to reach out to the late General’s grieving family.

Brigadier General T. Opuene, Garrison Commander, addressed on behalf of the family and the Nigerian Army, thanking the governor and his entourage for traveling from Maiduguri to meet the family.
