Stephen Ejezie’s leaked audio denies allegations of selling secret restroom videos as Access Bank confirms his dismissal and investigation

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he scandal involving Stephen Ifeanyichukwu Ejezie, a former Quality Assurance Specialist at Access Bank’s contact centre in Oniru, Lagos State, has deepened with the leak of an emotional audio message from the accused.

Ejezie, caught recording female colleagues in the restroom, addressed rumours surrounding the incident in the leaked audio.

He admitted to secretly recording on one occasion but strongly denied allegations of selling videos online or possessing incriminating materials like sex toys and hundreds of videos on his laptop.

“I need you to believe because I only need you to forgive me. I don’t know what came over me, I don’t know why I’m capable of such nonsense,” Ejezie said, pleading for understanding and forgiveness.

In the audio, Ejezie claimed that after he was caught, his phone was checked thoroughly by Access Bank’s internal audit team, and no other inappropriate recordings were found.

He insisted the money he used to purchase his phone came from his saved appraisal funds and not from illicit activities.

“I need you to believe because I only need you to forgive me. I don’t know what came over me.”

Ejezie had initially been caught at around 1:30 am after a female staff member noticed a recording device positioned to capture her bathing.

Read here:

“Hi, good evening. I wanted to get a chance to speak with you because I don’t know the rumours you must have heard and heard and everything. I just want to say I made a mistake of videoing on one occasion and it was those two people who caught me in the act that were recorded. And they themselves asked me …delete the video before handing the phone back to me.

“I don’t know the version that you’ve heard cos other people are telling me that police people followed me home and found video on my laptop. Over 400 videos, they found sex toys and whatnot. They found accounts that I was selling videos online to make money in dollars. That that’s how I made the money that I bought a phone with.

“I need you to believe when I say none of those things are true. And I’m saying it with my mouth and I can say it anywhere. The money I used to buy that phone is my appraisal money; appraisal all the way from last year that I’ve been keeping in my account cos I was thinking maybe I should invest this money or something. But there was no investment coming. Imagine that it was when I got the phone that this training on a money market done by Coronation Assurance people that did training was asking us alot of questions…

“In my mind I was saying that why didn’t you guys do the training before I bought the phone, I could have used the money for investment before spending it. That money was just sitting in my account doing nothing. …

“I need you to believe because I only need you to forgive me. I dont know what came over me, I dont know why I’m capable of such nonsense. Even if it is just one occurrence, it’s still not excusable because they also mentioned that there was somebody else who did that in jail, but before they could arrest the person, the person ran away and they could not find the person. That is the whole reason why they wanted to use me as a scapegoat and they make sure they hold internal audit to check my phone; to go through the app, to confirm everything.

“They went through my new phone and see that there was no recording. They scrutinised me, I wrote statements severally…

“All of these is not an excuse I just want to clarify things when people say their version of things, you’ll not believe them because you know I’m not a hardened criminal. I’m straight person; I’m a honest person. I can beat my chest, I’m proud of myself when I know what I did.

“I didn’t play smart when I was caught; when they asked me to unlock my phone, I did. I could have wiped the phone. I could have just fabricated any number of things but in all honesty I responded and look at how it turned out.

“I’m sorry about that; this is not how I would have loved to resign.”

Sources claimed that Access Bank ordered his arrest and his home was subsequently raided.

Although he was released from police custody, it appears he has been sacked by the bank.

However, there are concerns among affected staff that the bank may not pursue legal action against Ejezie to protect its brand.

Some contract workers fear that their chances of securing justice are slim.

An Access Bank statement confirmed that the incident has been escalated to law enforcement agencies.

“We uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and any form of privacy violation,” the statement read.
