In what came as a twist to the kidnapping menace in the country, neighbouring countries may have started tapping into the criminal venture at the detriment of innocent and hapless Nigerians.

According to a scoop, a relative of the late Squadron Leader Kola Odubanjo was kidnapped and later rescued after spending five days with her abductors.

The late Sqn Ldr Odubanjo, an Ijebu – Igbo Prince, died in 2017 and in front of his parents when a Nigeria Airforce Hercules C-130, Flight 911 crashed three minutes after take off from the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos on its way to Kaduna where middle rank officers were undergoing a course at the Command and Staff College (CSC), Jaji.

In a yet to be verified post shared with Freelanews, it was alleged that the abductors were Ghanaians who have been living in Nigeria for over ten years and demanded N50million from the woman’s family.

It was a shock after the criminal were tracked down and it was realised they were allegedly not Nigerian Fulani herdsmen as speculated but foreigners.

“Gentlemen, a cheering good news came to me just now now. I didn’t want to inform NAF offrs that the immediate sister of late Sqn Ldr Kola Odubanjo of the ill fated CSC 15 was abducted on Thursday along Ijebu Ode – Sagamu road.

“As usual, people suspected the abductors to be these foreign Fulanis in the forests. The abductors initially asked for a ransom of 50million naira and later reduced it to 20m (sic).

“Meanwhile the security agents, local hunters and vigilance gps were combing the forests along that axis. The abductors suddenly stopped communicating. Unknown to people, they were the gang that snatched a Lexus jeep on Friday and we’re driving the car with the woman towards Ghana.

“Unfortunately for them, the jeep has a tracker. They were tracked to a town in Lome on their way to Ghana. Interpol arrested them with the car and the woman and brought back to Nigeria late last night.

“All the abductors are Ghana citizens who have been living in Nigeria, Sagamu to be precise for over ten years. None is a Fulani. The woman has been handed over to her family. Nigeria is really in deep problem,” the post read.

Pundits believed that if the veracity of the post is confirmed, then the Nigerian government and its security agents need to double up on efforts at combating the menace.
