The tragic demise of Herbert Wigwe, the late GCEO of Access Bank and founder of Wigwe University, along with his wife, son, and a friend in a helicopter crash while en route to watch the Super Bowl in the United States, has left his family grieving and grappling with suspicions of a sinister plot.

Amidst the shock and grief of the untimely loss, family members are raising concerns over what they perceive as a calculated move by the late banker’s associates to sideline the Wigwe family, particularly Herbert’s younger brother, through clandestine proxies.

The suspicion looms large that this maneuver could be a ploy to gain control of late Wigwe’s share of Access Bank.

Adding to the distress, the bodies of the deceased have not yet been repatriated to Nigeria, delaying the planned funerals and prolonging the family’s agony.

Sources within the family have revealed clandestine meetings orchestrated by same people, excluding the Wigwe family, and exerting control over funeral arrangements, including the handling of the bodies.

The situation has escalated with reports of the associate’s partner travelling to the United States, purportedly to assert control over the deceased’s remains, further exacerbating tensions within the grieving family.

Moreover, the family has been dismayed by what they perceive as orchestrated photo opportunities, showcasing the partner’s influence and garnering support from a long list of prominent personalities. These staged visits, conducted under the guise of offering condolences, have left family members feeling alienated and suspicious of ulterior motives.

Amidst the turmoil, concerns persist for the safety and well-being of innocent young children within the family, who now find themselves at the centre of a brewing power struggle.

As the family grapples with their profound loss, they are left to navigate the complexities of mourning amidst suspicions of betrayal and exploitation, further deepening the tragedy of Herbert Wigwe’s untimely passing.
