The fusion of cutting-edge technology with Fela’s iconic music drew immediate attention online.
Fans and commentators responded to the video with enthusiasm, praising the choice of soundtrack while also reigniting debates about modern Nigerian music rivalries.
Some social media users referenced recent controversies involving singer Wizkid and alleged disrespect toward Fela Kuti’s legacy.

Fela Kuti’s international acclaim has been longstanding. In January 2026, the Recording Academy posthumously awarded him the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the Special Merit Awards in Los Angeles, a day before the main ceremony.
Veteran Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti, Fela’s son, has previously cautioned against comparisons between his father and contemporary Nigerian artists.
Speaking to Arise Television, he said such debates distract from pressing social and political issues in Nigeria.
