NIN Authentication Service Nigeria

The Federal Government has approved NIMC’s new NIN Authentication service, enhancing the security and ease of verifying identities for Nigerians and legal residents across various platforms and government agencies

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Federal Government has announced the official approval and launch of the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) new NIN Authentication service, designed to provide a more seamless and secure method for verifying the identities of Nigerians and legal residents using their National Identification Number (NIN).

In a statement released today, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, disclosed that the Presidency has directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt this new NIN Authentication service for all identity verification processes.

This directive underscores the government’s commitment to establishing a reliable digital identity ecosystem for the nation.

Adegoke explained that the NIN Authentication service, accessible via web, mobile applications, or API, prioritizes user data protection and privacy while simplifying access to various government services.

The NINAuth application serves as the official and secure gateway to NIMC’s national identity database.

The new service introduces a robust layer of security, empowering individuals with greater control over their personal information.

It mandates user consent before their data can be accessed for services such as Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures and other verification checks, fostering trust and transparency in data sharing.

Adegoke emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to significantly improve identity management practices across the country.

“This supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to improve how identities are managed in the country,” stated Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications, NIMC.

With the NINAuth service, individuals can now securely verify their identity and access a wide range of essential services, including SIM registration and replacement, passport applications, tax filings, and financial transactions.

Furthermore, the platform will be integral to accessing government support programs, driver’s license renewals, and other official processes.

The benefits of the NINAuth service include enhanced security, robust protection against unauthorized access to personal data, and user-centric control over data-sharing preferences.

It also offers the convenience of easy and secure access to multiple services through a single sign-on functionality.

Adegoke affirmed that the launch of NINAuth demonstrates NIMC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening identity verification in Nigeria.

The platform’s secure architecture, flexibility, and API integration capabilities enable real-time NIN record verification, ultimately improving service delivery and ensuring compliance with national identity regulations.

The NINAuth service is now the mandated platform for all identity verification processes requiring the use of the NIN.
