Folasade Oba grassroots award win recognised at Dascenario Awards 2025 for community service and inclusive leadership in Ikorodu

Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria, April 2026: Honourable Chief Mrs. Folasade Oba, a grassroots politician and community leader, has been named Female Grassroots Politician of the Year at the Dascenario Awards 2025 in recognition of her impactful service and inclusive leadership in Ikorodu.

The award was presented during a well attended ceremony held alongside the APC Amazons Easter Medical Outreach and the birthday celebration of Babajimi Benson, the member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Organisers said the Folasade Oba grassroots award reflects her sustained commitment to community development, particularly her efforts to support vulnerable groups and promote participatory governance at the local level.

Beyond the recognition, Oba was also inducted as a Matron of the Dascenario Awards, receiving a ceremonial medal and badge reserved for individuals with distinguished records of service.

The honour marked a significant moment in the event, drawing applause from attendees and community stakeholders.

The ceremony attracted a large turnout of residents, many of whom benefited from free healthcare services provided during the outreach.

The initiative highlighted the growing link between grassroots political leadership and direct social impact, a principle Oba has consistently championed.

In her acceptance remarks, Oba described the award as both humbling and motivating.

She dedicated the recognition to women working at the grassroots level, calling for sustained collaboration in building stronger communities.

The event also celebrated Benson, whose constituency projects and people centred representation were widely acknowledged by participants.

His birthday commemoration added a personal dimension to the gathering, blending recognition with community engagement.

Observers noted that the Folasade Oba grassroots award underscores a broader shift towards recognising local leaders whose influence is felt directly within communities, rather than solely at higher levels of government.

The Dascenario Awards, organisers said, aim to honour individuals who demonstrate excellence, integrity and measurable impact across various sectors in Nigeria.
