Music enthusiasts and aspiring singers nationwide now have another opportunity to break into the big league through a unique talent discovery scheme that focuses on raw vocal talent.

Acapella Battle: Season One the new show that is about to debut in Lagos is being produced and promoted by VocalArt Nigeria, a Lagos-based creative and content firm based in Ikeja.

According to a release by the organizers, “VocalArt challenge is a daring contest, a platform that brings to life and celebrates the under recognised A-capella genre while discovering, rewarding, and projecting6 talented artists within its sphere”

The contest recently opened to potential participants and has witnessed impressive interest among aspiring performers who have been sending in entries. The A-capella challenge seeks to encourage team work and create opportunities for young people to form groups that will sing together throughout their careers.
“There are no restrictions in the competition either in terms of genre of music, age, language or geographical area. All are welcome,” the statement read.

Organizers also said participants could either present original music or existing songs as long as they respect copyright rules. “What matters to us are factors such as vocal technique, teamwork, musicality, originality, stage presence and overall performance,” says the company’s website regarding judging criteria.

VocalArt aims to “create a distinguished talent display platform that would not only be different from existing offerings but also deliver a distinctive and memorable experience”.
