Nigeria’s Future Eagles secured a victory and a draw in their latest fixtures at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, defeating Cyprus 2-1 before playing out a 1-1 draw against Pakistan on Monday.
The Nigerian youngsters staged a comeback against Cyprus in their opening match, with Wisdom Oche and substitute Timothy Ijach scoring to secure the victory after their opponents had taken an early lead.

Cyprus moved ahead in the 12th minute through Georgios Christodoulou, putting Nigeria under pressure in the opening stages of the encounter.
The Future Eagles responded five minutes later when Oche found the net in the 17th minute to restore parity and bring Nigeria back into the contest.
Nigeria completed the turnaround in the 26th minute through Ijach, who came off the bench to score the decisive goal.
The team subsequently held on to protect its advantage and claim a 2-1 win.
However, the Nigerian side could not maintain that winning momentum against Pakistan, settling for a 1-1 draw in their final group fixture.
Despite creating opportunities to secure another victory, the Future Eagles were unable to reproduce the attacking efficiency that had helped them overcome Cyprus.
The result denied Nigeria consecutive wins, although the team gained further competitive experience against international opposition.
The two fixtures provided the young players with opportunities to test their abilities, build confidence and identify areas requiring improvement as they continue their development.
The comeback victory against Cyprus demonstrated the team’s capacity to respond after conceding an early goal, while the draw against Pakistan highlighted the need to convert more chances into goals.

The Future Eagles will seek to build on the positives from their performance against Cyprus and improve their attacking execution following the stalemate with Pakistan as their participation in the youth football festival continues.
