Legal pressure mounts as Goke Bajowa’s copyright dispute intensifies as the gospel singer warns Boye Best over alleged unauthorised use of his song

Veteran Nigerian gospel singer Goke Bajowa has issued a stern warning of possible legal action against fellow artiste Boye Best over alleged copyright infringement.

Bajowa accused Boye Best of repeatedly performing his song “Iwo Ko Lodami” at events and live shows without proper acknowledgment of its original ownership.

Speaking in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday, Bajowa described the situation as misleading and unfair, arguing that the continued use of the song without credit suggests false ownership and undermines his rights as the creator.

Goke Bajowa copyright dispute has escalated following claims that previous efforts to resolve the issue privately were ignored.

Bajowa stated that despite earlier communication, the alleged unauthorised performances persisted across multiple platforms.

“This is a final warning,” Bajowa said, insisting that Boye Best must henceforth acknowledge him as the original owner whenever the song is performed.

He added that while he has not barred the singer from performing the track, failure to provide proper credit would leave him with no option but to pursue legal remedies to protect the integrity of his work.

The dispute highlights ongoing concerns within Nigeria’s music industry over intellectual property rights and the enforcement of copyright protections, particularly in live performances.

Observers note that such conflicts are becoming more frequent as artists seek stronger control over their creative output in an increasingly competitive and digital-driven landscape.
