[dropcap]A[/dropcap]damawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has extended his congratulations to Nigerians as the nation celebrates its 64th independence anniversary.

In a statement, he acknowledged the numerous challenges faced throughout Nigeria’s journey to nationhood but highlighted the significant progress made, particularly since the country returned to democracy 24 years ago.

Fintiri stressed the importance of self-reflection and collective responsibility in addressing the nation’s weaknesses. He urged citizens to accept responsibility for their actions and to reject the victim mentality that hinders progress. “Some of these weaknesses are within our means to correct, but we will only succeed if we are brave and honest enough to accept responsibility for our actions and reject the convenient attitude of playing the victim and blaming others,” he stated.

The governor reassured the people of Adamawa that his administration is committed to inclusivity, ensuring that every citizen benefits from government efforts. “I commend you all for reaching this milestone, surviving pitfalls, and regaining dignity through democracy. Though 64 years is brief for a nation, we’ve had time to make significant changes,” Fintiri remarked.

He also acknowledged that unpatriotic acts and injustice have hindered national progress and called for unity in taking responsibility for the future. “My administration will continue empowering Adamawa citizens through human capital development and infrastructure investments, boosting the economy, and improving living conditions,” he added.

Addressing the current hardships faced by Nigerians, Fintiri expressed optimism about the country’s future, encouraging collaboration in providing good governance and reaping the dividends of democracy. He noted, “Let us unite in supporting the government’s initiatives and work together towards a brighter future.”

Furthermore, the governor commended security agencies for their diligent efforts in maintaining peace and order in Adamawa State.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace initiatives aimed at fostering harmony and understanding among citizens.

Fintiri urged the people not to compromise the hard-earned peace, stating that together, they can build a more prosperous and united Nigeria.
