‘It was for my wig!’ Jarvis explains wedding haircut

The Nigerian TikTok star says her shaved head was a practical styling decision, not a traditional marriage ritual.

‘It was for my wig!’ Jarvis explains wedding haircut

Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, popularly known as Jarvis, has cleared up the mystery surrounding her shaved head in Lagos on Monday, August 10, 2026, explaining that her wedding haircut was a hairstyling decision rather than a traditional marriage ritual ahead of her white wedding to fellow TikTok star Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, popularly known as Peller.

The clarification followed online speculation that Jarvis had undergone the haircut as part of a cultural or tribal rite associated with marriage.

Speaking in a trending social media video, the digital creator said the decision was made to achieve the bridal hairstyle she wanted, particularly because of the texture and shape of her natural hair.

“I shaved my hair because I wanted my hair installation to be perfect,” Jarvis said.

She explained that her hairstylist had recommended the haircut because her natural hairline could make it difficult to achieve the desired finish with a frontal wig.

“That is what my hairstylist recommended because I have stubborn hair,” she added.

Jarvis’s explanation offers a simple answer to a question that had generated considerable online curiosity around one of Nigeria’s most closely followed creator weddings.

The development also highlights the speed with which assumptions can spread around high-profile ceremonies, particularly when an unusual appearance is viewed through the lens of Nigerian cultural traditions.

The wedding itself has been a major digital entertainment story.

Jarvis and Peller announced August 1, 2026 as their wedding date in a cinematic social media announcement that drew widespread reactions from fans and fellow creators.

Multiple Nigerian media outlets reported the announcement and the couple’s growing public profile as digital entertainers.

The couple’s journey to marriage has included traditional and civil ceremonies.

Peller travelled to Benin City, Edo State, to meet Jarvis’s family and fulfil traditional marriage requirements, including the payment of her bride price.

The pair later formalised their union through a court wedding before the planned white wedding.

Their wedding preparations have attracted attention beyond the ceremony itself. Peller previously disclosed that the eight-yard version of the couple’s aso-ebi cost ₦700,000, with about 400 guests expected to wear the fabric.

Businessman Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, also pledged ₦10 million towards the celebration.

The couple also released pre-wedding photographs ahead of the ceremony, presenting a more polished and intimate side of their relationship to their large online audience.

Channels Television reported that the photographs were accompanied by a message describing the images as memories created before their big day.

Peller had earlier spoken about preparing for married life, including attending private marriage counselling sessions.

The creator said the sessions were intended to help him become a better husband to Jarvis, adding another personal dimension to the highly publicised wedding preparations.

For Jarvis, however, the shaved hairstyle was considerably less dramatic than the speculation surrounding it.

The decision was practical, driven by the demands of her bridal styling rather than a hidden cultural ceremony.

Her clarification brings an end to the mystery while offering a reminder that not every unusual wedding detail carries a deeper traditional meaning.

As the couple begins their new chapter in the full glare of social media, the episode has become another small but telling moment in a wedding that has already generated significant public interest across Nigeria’s digital entertainment space.
