The Jigawa House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N901.84 billion for state government operations and N288.85 billion for local councils
The Jigawa State House of Assembly has approved the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N901.84 billion for the services of the state government, following some amendments.

The passage on Tuesday came after the adoption of the report from the House Standing Committee on Appropriation during plenary presided over by Speaker Haruna Aliyu.
Presenting the report, the Committee Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Hamza, said the standing committees had engaged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to assess and defend their respective budget estimates.
“The committee is satisfied with the allocation for the provision of infrastructure and social amenities to the people in the 2026 fiscal year,” Hamza said.
In addition, the Assembly approved N288.848 billion for the services of the state’s 27 local government councils.
Hamza called on the Ministry for Local Government to ensure that council chairmen implement their budgets effectively for the wellbeing of rural communities.

Governor Umar Namadi had on November 25 presented the N901.84 billion budget to the Assembly for consideration and approval.
