Kano: Chemist rapes 9-year-old girl to death

A nine-year-old girl, Rumaisa Sadiq, has lost her life after allegedly being raped by a chemist in Jaba, Fanisau Unogo local government area of Kano State.

The incident occurred when Rumaisa’s father took the little girl to the chemist for malaria treatment but was informed by the Chemist (name and age withheld) that she needed an Intravenous (IV) drip and the father was urged to leave the victim in the Chemist’s care until the treatment was completed.

He then allegedly used the opportunity to rape the girl resulting in her death.

The Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Disabled and Children, Hajia Aisha Saji, confirmed the girl’s death and vowed to pursue justice for the victim and her family.

“Despite attempts to derail the case,” she said, “the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf is committed to bringing the perpetrator to book.”

Hajia Saji expressed her deep sorrow during a condolence visit to the victim’s family, emphasising the need for swift justice to serve as a deterrent to others.

“There must be justice for the little girl who lost her life simply because someone chose to display his animalistic instinct on her.

“In fact, full and quick dispensation of justice in this case is necessary in order to serve as a lesson and deterrence to others like this grown up person that carried out this merciless act against an innocent nine year old girl.”

“The Kano State Government will follow up the case in court to a conclusive end,” she stated.

The victim’s family also pleaded with the Kano State Government to assist them in seeking justice for their beloved daughter.
