A Chinese national, Li-jian Yuan, 50, has been arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over a suspected sexual assault involving a 23-year-old woman, Wemimo Adebowale.

The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following a complaint lodged with the police.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama explained that detectives apprehended Yuan after investigating the alleged incident, which reportedly occurred on January 28, 2026.
Yuan is currently in police custody pending further investigation.
Authorities have stated that he will be arraigned in court soon, assuring the public of thorough follow-up to ensure justice is delivered.
The Ogun State Police Command emphasised its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and warned that all reports of sexual misconduct would be treated with urgency and diligence.
