Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State during an ambush operation, recovering arms and ammunition in the process

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition during an operation in the Sabarumawa area of Kebbi State on Saturday 27 June 2026.

The Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying the troops acted on credible intelligence about the terrorists’ movement.

According to Danja, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 were immediately deployed to the area, where they laid a tactical ambush along the suspected route.

“As the terrorists approached the ambush position, the troops engaged them with overwhelming firepower, resulting in a fierce gun battle,” he said.

A follow-up search led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle.

This Kebbi terrorist kill is part of sustained offensives aimed at denying terrorists and other criminal groups freedom of operation across the North-West.

Operation Fansan Yamma is a joint military operation established to combat terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

In recent months, troops have intensified intelligence-driven operations targeting Lakurawa terrorists and other armed groups in parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara and neighbouring states.

Danja reaffirmed the commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to protecting lives and property through sustained military operations.

He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to enhance ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
