Oyo principal abduction victim’s husband appeals to Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify efforts to rescue his wife and other kidnapped victims

The husband of abducted school principal Mrs Alamu Folawe broke down in tears on Saturday as he appealed to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify efforts to secure the release of his wife and other victims kidnapped in the state.

The emotional appeal came during Makinde’s visit to Oriire Local Government Area, where relatives of abducted persons gathered to demand swift government intervention and updates on ongoing rescue efforts.

Alamu Folawe, the principal of Community Grammar School, Esiele, was among several victims abducted by gunmen in the Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State, an incident that has triggered widespread concern over security in the area.

Speaking during the governor’s visit, the distressed husband pleaded for urgent action, expressing fears over the welfare of those being held captive.

Visibly emotional, he said reports and videos emerging from captivity had compounded the pain experienced by families.

“My wife is the one being used to make the videos that are being circulated. It is very disheartening and depressing,” he said in Yoruba before breaking down in tears.

Despite his anguish, he commended the governor for efforts already made to address the situation but urged the state government not to relent until all victims are safely reunited with their families.

The appeal comes amid renewed concern following the circulation of a video reportedly released by Mrs Folawe from captivity.

In the footage, the abducted principal allegedly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to consider dialogue as part of efforts to secure the freedom of the hostages.

Family members and concerned residents have continued to call on authorities at both state and federal levels to strengthen rescue operations and ensure the safe return of all abductees.

While security agencies have yet to disclose full details of ongoing operations, officials say efforts are underway to locate the kidnappers and secure the victims’ release.

The incident has intensified concerns over recurring attacks and kidnappings affecting rural communities in parts of Oyo State, with residents urging authorities to adopt stronger measures to protect schools, teachers and local communities.
