In a statement issued by the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, Kwankwaso is scheduled to formally register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, by 12 noon.
The announcement confirms the Kwankwaso defects to ADC move, which the group described as a strategic decision aimed at strengthening its political relevance and advancing national interests.
Mohammed directed members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement to immediately begin registration with the ADC across wards, local government areas and states, urging full participation in party activities.
“Consequently, all members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement are hereby directed to proceed and register with the African Democratic Congress.
Members are also encouraged to fully engage in all party activities and contribute actively toward the growth and success of the party,” he said.
The spokesperson characterised the defection as a decisive step driven by commitment to democratic values and good governance, describing it as being in the best interest of both the movement and the country.
“This strategic decision has been taken in the best interest of the movement, our state, and the nation at large.
It reflects our unwavering commitment to democratic ideals and the collective aspirations of the people,” Mohammed added.
He emphasised the importance of safeguarding democratic principles, noting that the will of the people must remain paramount in political processes.
The development signals a potentially influential realignment ahead of future electoral contests, with the Kwankwasiyya Movement reaffirming its unity and resolve to pursue a more inclusive political agenda under its new platform.
