Lagos Youth Development efforts earn praise as NYCN chairman lauds state programmes at Africa Youth Day celebration

According to officials present at the 2025 Africa and National Youth Day celebration in Lagos, the Lagos Youth Development drive has received renewed commendation, with the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, Mr Ibrahim Adigun, praising the state government’s sustained commitment to youth empowerment.

Adigun stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration had, over the past few years, consistently invested in human capital development through strategic and far-reaching programmes.

He highlighted initiatives under the Ministry of Youths and Social Development, led by Commissioner Mobolaji Ogunlende and Permanent Secretary Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, describing their efforts as impressive and impactful.

He noted that support for youth-focused institutions such as the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Ibile Youth Academy and Lagos Youth Development Institute had grown significantly.

According to him, Lagos currently ranks highest among all states participating in the ongoing Youth Day celebration finals, a reflection of the state’s powerful commitment to nurturing future leaders.

Adigun further commended the Lagos State Government for its recent youth policy review and the reassignment of the National Youth Service Corps to the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, calling the decision strategic and timely.
