Liverpool signs Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in a £45m deal, marking their second major deadline-day signing
According to BBC Sports, Liverpool’s final agreement includes a 10% sell-on clause, following their initial £35 million offer — highlighting how determined the Reds were to land the talented centre-back.

This makes Guehi Liverpool’s second major signing of the day, following the record-breaking £125 million deal for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
Guehi, who captained Crystal Palace to a 3–0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, ended his time at Selhurst Park on a high note, scoring a memorable second goal in what became his 162nd and final appearance for the club.
Despite speculation, he remained tight-lipped about his future post-match, focusing instead on the team’s performance: “People will try to single out the goal, but that was a clear team performance tonight,” he said.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Guehi intensified after Jarrell Quansah’s move to Bayer Leverkusen, exposing defensive vulnerabilities that saw the club concede six goals in just three Premier League matches.
His arrival adds much-needed depth to the squad as the Reds push to reinforce their backline.
Guehi now joins a list of fresh additions that includes Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Giovanni Leoni — taking Liverpool’s total summer spend to a staggering £451.2 million, the highest ever in Premier League history.
The club has offset some of that with the departures of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyler Morton, and Ben Doak, recovering approximately £190 million in fees.
