A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Rivers State abduction rape case involving a 14-year-old girl held and assaulted for over a week
[dropcap]P[/dropcap]olice in Rivers State have arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Godwin, in connection with the alleged abduction and gang rape of a 14-year-old minor.

Godwin, along with three other individuals who are currently at large, reportedly abducted the girl and subjected her to repeated acts of rape daily for more than a week before her eventual rescue.
The Rivers State Police Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Grace Iringe-Koko, informed journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday that Godwin is currently in police custody.
According to SP Iringe-Koko, officers apprehended the suspect during a routine patrol in the Casablanca area of the Government Residential Area (GRA) in Port Harcourt.
“Godwin was arrested while in the company of the minor along GRA Phase 2 during a routine patrol by operatives of C4I Strike Force,” SP Iringe-Koko stated. “During questioning, the suspect confessed to abducting the minor and detaining her in a room.”
The police spokesperson further revealed, “Godwin further admitted that three other individuals also joined him to engage in unlawful acts with the minor for over a week.”
SP Iringe-Koko noted that the command has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the crime. Officers have been deployed to locate and apprehend Godwin’s accomplices so that they can be brought before the court to face prosecution.

The police spokesperson also advised members of the public to exercise caution regarding their associations and reassured residents of the command’s ongoing commitment to ensuring their safety and security within Rivers State.
