Man claims he is Asake’s father in viral video

Man Claims He Is Asake’s Father in a viral video, alleging he gave the Afrobeats star up for adoption as a teenager

A man has stirred widespread online debate after claiming he is the biological father of Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake.

The allegation surfaced in a viral video circulating on social media platform X, where the man narrated what he described as a long-hidden personal story.

In the video, the claimant said he fathered the singer as a teenager but later gave the child up for adoption due to his young age and lack of responsibility at the time.

According to the man, the child was originally named Tanimutanku before later changing his identity and becoming the artist now known as Asake.

“A lot of people do not know that I was a teenage father. When I was a teenager I had a son, and I ended up giving him up for adoption, mostly because I just didn’t care,” the man said in the video.

The man admitted that he now regrets the decision, saying he would have chosen to raise the child himself if he had known the future outcome.

The claim emerged shortly after reports circulated online that Asake surprised his parents with luxury vehicles worth millions of naira.

At the time of filing this report, Asake has not publicly responded to the allegation.

The singer, known for hit songs such as “Lonely at the Top,” has remained focused on his music career and public engagements.

The viral video has triggered mixed reactions online.

Some social media users questioned the credibility of the claim, while others debated the possibility based on perceived resemblance.

Despite the speculation, there has been no independent confirmation of the claim linking the man to the Afrobeats star.

Asake, one of the leading figures in Nigeria’s contemporary music scene, previously spoke about early challenges in his career, including difficulties securing performance opportunities because he sang mainly in Yoruba.
