The Portuguese manager, who joined the Red Devils in November 2024, has been relieved of his duties amid growing dissatisfaction with team performances and internal tensions.
Amorim’s tenure saw United sit sixth in the Premier League table at the time of his dismissal.
Reports indicate that the decision came less than 24 hours after he publicly criticised the club’s hierarchy during a press conference following a 1–1 draw against Leeds United.
In the controversial interview, Amorim made pointed remarks about his authority and role within the club, reportedly intensifying pressure on him less than two seasons into his reign.
Club leadership acted swiftly, confirming the decision to part ways with the 40-year-old manager.
Manchester United are expected to appoint an interim manager as they begin preparations to identify a permanent replacement ahead of upcoming fixtures. The club has promised further updates in the coming days.
