Met Police arrest singer murder suspects after British-Nigerian singer Mark Orabiyi was fatally stabbed in Rayleigh Road, Essex

The United Kingdom Metropolitan Police has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian singer Mark Orabiyi, who was found with multiple stab wounds in the garden of a property on Rayleigh Road in Essex.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers and paramedics were called to the scene shortly after receiving reports of a violent incident, where they discovered the 35-year-old victim critically injured. Despite emergency medical intervention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police statement confirmed that while formal identification procedures are ongoing, the deceased has been named as Mark Orabiyi, with specialist officers now supporting his family.

“Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and found a 35-year-old man with stab wounds in the garden of a property in nearby Rayleigh Road. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene,” the statement said.

The family of Mark Orabiyi described him as a loving and vibrant figure whose presence brought joy to those around him, paying an emotional tribute to his life and legacy.

“Mark was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He brought love, light, and joy to our family and to all who knew him,” the family said.

In a developing investigation, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that three individuals — two men and a woman — were arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, June 5.

One suspect, a 27-year-old man, has been released on bail pending further enquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been released with no further action following police questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, described the case as tragic and urged members of the public to assist ongoing enquiries.

“This is a tragic incident, and my thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones. Our investigation continues at pace,” she said.

She appealed for witnesses and urged anyone with CCTV footage or relevant information from the area at the time of the incident to come forward to assist detectives.

Authorities also confirmed that another 20-year-old individual was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening stab injuries in connection with the wider incident.

The case adds to a growing number of violent incidents involving members of the Nigerian diaspora in the United Kingdom, prompting renewed concern within affected communities.
