Alhaji Taoreed Farounbi, aka Baba Alado

Contrary to reports of terror as published in many Nigerian blogs of attacks masterminded by the popular Mushin elder, Alhaji Taoreed Farounbi, fondly called Baba Alado, no such thing happened, Freelanews can exclusively report.

In what looks like the ripples caused by the attack due to the misunderstanding between the Sheri-Fagbile and Amuwo-Kuje areas of White Sand in Lagos State may not be going away anytime soon, the media is again awashed with echoes of bloodbath that occurred on March 19, 2020.

The White Sand is located between the Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development and the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government areas of the state.

Recall that that two families were laying claims to the ownership of the land at White Sand and were set to meet to agree on the boundaries when hoodlums suspected to be land-grabbers allegedly invaded the venue of the meeting.

An eyewitness stated that the trouble started when members of the other family got hoodlums involved in the land dispute resolution.

“We are from the Fagbile family that owns the land at White Sand, but because we share boundaries with the Amuwo-Kuje family, they usually take advantage of that to claim ownership of the land.

“So, on Thursday around 10.30am, both families decided to bring our surveyors for a meeting to map out the boundaries. But the meeting could not hold because one of the surveyors did not come.

“Suddenly, we saw some land-grabbers with sophisticated weapons and we quickly alerted security agents and some of them were arrested and two of their vehicles were impounded. About 27 cutlasses and different types of charms were found in the vehicles,” he claimed.

But in a recent article being circulated in the media, it was alleged that the said attack which occurred on March 19, 2020, over 50 hoodlums attacked members of Kuje Amuwo Orofin’s family regarding the said land and pointed at Baba Alado as culprit.

In an exclusive chat with Freelanews, Baba Alado said that even though the attack happened, he was never instrumental nor any where near the disputed land on the fateful day.

He insisted that the clash occurred between the two loyalists of the families living around the land.

“As we speak, security agents from the Nigerian police and army have been deployed to stand watch over the disputed area, while the court has asked the two parties to maintain status quo.”

He, therefore, appealed to Nigerians to dismiss the report as it emanated from the warped imaginations of those trying to malign his image.

“I wonder why anyone will descend to such low during a time we should be more focused on fighting a common enemy in form of coronavirus.”

Baba Alado used the opportunity to appeal to Lagosians to observe all safety measures by the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the fight against the spread of the deadly virus.
