Mohamed Salah will travel to Morocco for AFCON 2025, bringing experience and leadership to Egypt’s campaign despite mixed club form.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is set to travel to Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on 15 December, as Egypt prepare for the tournament, Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday.

Despite not starting in some recent matches, Salah has received praise for his professionalism and unwavering support for his teammates, Liverpool coach Arne Slot said. Slot commented: “Of course, a player is not happy if he’s not starting, but he was very supportive of his teammates. He’s a top professional.”
The 33-year-old striker has struggled to rediscover his best form this season, scoring just four goals in 13 Premier League games during the 2025–26 campaign.
Nonetheless, his leadership is expected to play a pivotal role for the Pharaohs.
Egypt are drawn in Group B alongside Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, and they will kick off their campaign against Zimbabwe on 22 December at Grand Stade d’Agadir in Agadir.
