Plans are underway to give a special treat to no fewer than 100 widows in Lagos State by a socialite and grassroots politician, Tunde Olaogun.

It was learnt that the philanthropist is already talking to his friends and associates to ensure this becomes a huge success.

At the moment, some corporate and media organisations have indicated an interest in the programme, including Dangote, Cadbury Nigeria, UAC Foods, Business Post, Encomium, and The Message, among others.

From details gathered by this newspaper, the event, which will allow the widows to wine and dine with the environmentalist, is slated for Saturday, December 24, 2022.

Explaining the rationale behind this, Olaogun said he was inspired to party with the Lagos widows by Luke 6:38 of the Holy Bible, which says, give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal, it shall be measured to you again.

This is not the first time Olaogun is giving back to society.

Last month, he donated 50 GCE forms to students of Ogbomosho High School, Oyo State. This gesture was lauded by the principal of the school, who thanked him for the donation.

“To us, this act of kindness is not just a show of philanthropy but clearly an indication that you believe in the saying that education is the best legacy.

“The students who benefited from your kind gesture are equally very grateful and extend their sincere gratitude.

“On behalf of the leadership of Ogbomosho High School, once again, we thank you most heartily, and we pray the Almighty God to continue to provide for your needs,” a part of a letter of appreciation signed by the Vice Principal (Academics) of Ogbomosho High School, Oladotun Opadokun, read.

On January 13, Mr Olaogun celebrated his birthday with some elderly persons at the Old Market in Lokoja, Kogi State, giving them something to eat to make them feel very important.

“This giving initiative, as you are perhaps aware, is not new in my history, although it is the first in Lokoja.

“I am, however, encouraged and of the fervent belief that it is better to give when you have, but it is much more rewarding to give when you do not have,” he had said.

On February 14, 2022, Olaogun spent Valentine’s Day with the inhabitants of Mom Orphanage Home and Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage in Lokoja, Kogi State.
