he Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died in an Egyptian hospital where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.

Muhammad Zuru dies on Monday night, according to sources close to the Kebbi State Government, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure as one of the state’s most influential lawmakers.
Until his death, Muhammad Usman Zuru represented Zuru Constituency in the assembly and was widely regarded as a central figure in the legislature.
His leadership shaped legislative activities and governance direction in Kebbi State.
Confirming the development, an aide to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, described the incident as shocking and deeply painful.
“The death of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, came to us as a rude shock. It is a painful loss not only to Kebbi State but to the entire nation,” Idris Zuru said.
Idris Zuru added that the government is still gathering full details surrounding the circumstances of the death.
Idris Zuru noted that an official statement and burial arrangements would be announced in consultation with the family.
The passing of the Speaker marks a significant moment for Kebbi State’s political landscape, with tributes expected from political leaders and stakeholders across Nigeria.
