Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan reconciliation deepens as she invites Senate President Akpabio and colleagues to inaugurate projects in Kogi State

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan reconciliation efforts took centre stage in the Senate on Thursday as the Kogi Central lawmaker extended an olive branch to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, weeks after her return from suspension.

The senator, in a personally signed letter read aloud by Akpabio during plenary, invited him and other lawmakers to the inauguration of several constituency projects in Ihima, Okene Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, with the meeting point at her residence on Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street.

For senators travelling by air, Akpoti-Uduaghan suggested using the Obajana airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.

The invitation, though cordial in tone, carried powerful undertones of reconciliation after months of tension between the two figures.

Akpabio, visibly pleased as he read the letter, responded with a warm “Congratulations in advance,” signalling a possible end to their frosty relationship.

The Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan reconciliation comes after a turbulent chapter in the Senate.

The senator was suspended in March 2025 following a dramatic clash with Akpabio over seat allocation during plenary, which led to accusations of misconduct and authoritarianism within the chamber.

Her reinstatement, delayed until mid-October, followed court interventions and political negotiations.

Since returning, Akpoti-Uduaghan has made deliberate efforts to reintegrate into legislative activities, including contributing to key debates such as the Criminal Code (Amendment) Bill 2025.

Her latest gesture appears both conciliatory and strategic, signalling a willingness to mend ties while reaffirming her political resilience.

Observers describe the move as a powerful gesture of maturity and a step towards rebuilding trust in a Senate often divided by personality clashes and power struggles.
