Social media platforms have been flooded with disturbing videos showing a male lecturer physically engaging with a female student during an ongoing examination at Niger Delta University (NDU), Bayelsa State.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident began after the lecturer accused the student of exam malpractice and ordered her to leave the hall.
However, the student allegedly refused to comply until her seized mobile phone was returned.
Tensions escalated when the student reportedly smashed the lecturer’s phone during the altercation.
In one widely shared clip, another school official is heard urging the student to exit the hall, but she continues to demand the return of her phone first.
The identity of the lecturer has not been officially disclosed, and as of press time, NDU management has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
Efforts to contact university officials for comment were unsuccessful.
Speaking to reporters, Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, confirmed that he would reach out to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area for further information on the matter.
