The Nigeria Police Force has taken decisive action following the tragic killing of two monarchs in Ekiti State. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, announced that 13 suspects have been arrested in connection to the heinous crime.

The slain traditional rulers, the Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, were attacked by gunmen while returning from a security meeting in Kogi State. The Alara of Ara Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, narrowly escaped the ambush.
In the same area, kidnappers targeted a school bus, abducting five pupils from the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, along with three teachers and the bus driver.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, strongly condemned the attacks and, in response, deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abiodun Asabi, to Zone 17 in Akure, Ondo State. A comprehensive security response is being coordinated to address the security challenges in Ekiti and parts of Ondo.
Adejobi stated, “Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the incidents, and the IGP assures the public of the NPF’s commitment to ensuring justice and preventing a recurrence.” He urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as efforts are made to restore peace and security in the affected areas.
