Nigerian UK carer sacked after posting about colleague’s dismissal

TikTok creator Idele Family, a Nigerian healthcare support worker based in the United Kingdom, was asked to leave her care role in late September 2026 after posting work tea about a colleague’s firing at the same workplace.

In the first video Idele Family sat in a car in work clothing and told viewers a viral clip had come from her place of work.

On-screen text asked people in healthcare to watch. She said the incident was going viral online and walked through what had happened, including a male colleague being dismissed.

She asked whether staff should keep quiet and said people should hear her own voice. She also urged viewers to stay with the video until the end.

The male colleague in that clip has not been named. The employer has not been identified either. Her legal name has not been confirmed publicly. She posted both videos on her TikTok account, Idele Family.

About a week later she posted a second video on the same account. In that clip she said, “I’ve been asked to go home.” She looked distressed and kept recording as she spoke.

The videos spread on X after Senior Pastor Okezie James Atañi, posting as Onsogbu, and commentator Deji Adesogan shared them. Adesogan wrote, “USE SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSIBLY.” The care provider has not released a public statement.

UK health and social care contracts usually ban staff from discussing internal discipline online.

Filming in uniform, naming a workplace incident, or circulating another worker’s dismissal can be treated as a confidentiality breach even when no patient appears. Managers often send staff home first. That step can become a suspension or a sacking.

This is not a new pattern. Nigerian workers in British care jobs have lost posts after comments meant as praise were read as body shaming, after filming shifts, or after posting about a job too early. What travels as gossip in one culture can read as misconduct in another.

In parts of online Nigerian life, workplace stories are content. In UK care work they are often a contractual risk.

The second video is the raw turn. Idele Family posted work tea about a colleague’s firing, then filmed her own send-home. Some viewers said the first clip was a costly choice. Others said the employer was harsh.
