Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing addresses body-shaming, cosmetic surgery trends, and women’s freedom to make choices about their own bodies
Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has addressed societal pressure on women’s bodies and the rising trend of cosmetic procedures, particularly the Brazilian Butt Lift, in a video shared on social media.

The actress criticised the inconsistency of men who previously mocked women for their bodies but now advise them to embrace their natural shapes.
“You people mocked women for years because of their bodies, but now you are the same ones telling them to love themselves the way they are,” she said.
Nkechi Blessing explained that persistent criticism and body-shaming have contributed to many women opting for procedures such as BBL. “Many women went for BBL because of the insults and pressure they received about their bodies. You bullied women for not having big backsides and now you are telling them not to do surgery,” she added.
Despite acknowledging societal pressures, the mother of one stressed that personal insults or online criticism would not dictate her own decisions regarding her body.
“No amount of insults or abuse will push me to change my body. This body is my hard work and the success I have achieved,” she said.

The actress emphasised that women should have autonomy over their bodies without fear of judgment. She also clarified that if she ever considers surgery, it would only be for weight-loss purposes and not for enhancement procedures.
“I am proud of my body and I will not alter it because people talk. Women should be free to make their own decisions about their bodies,” she concluded.
